Physician, nurse, and patient opinion concerning the pharmacist as a provider of drug administration information

According to the results of this survey about 80% of the physicians interviewed indicated that there was a need for pharmacists to provide drug information. Two thirds of the patients interviewed indicated that they had very little knowledge of their medicine, but expressed a desire to know more about their present drug therapy. Other members of the health care team indicated that they wanted active pharmacists co-workers who were knowledgeable about drug therapy, knew more about clinical practice(disease, laboratory data, medical terminology, etc.), and who participated together in medical conferences. Twenty percent of the physicians inter viewed apparently doubted the ability of the pharmacist to provide appropriate drug information. These results indicated that pharmacists need to establish the efficient system of providing drug information.
